Dental Crowns
What Is a Dental Crown?
You may have heard from your dentist that you'll need a crown to restore a damaged tooth, but what does this mean? A dental crown (or cap) is a covering–typically made of porcelain–that encases the entire tooth surface, restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects, maintains, and strengthens the tooth's structure when it can't be treated with fillings or other types of restorations.
Can a Dental Crown Restore a Missing Tooth?
While a crown alone requires the structural base of your natural tooth, an implant-supported crown can replace the gap left behind by a missing tooth. We offer dental implants at our Salt Lake City dental office and can top the implant with a natural-looking permanent crown.

We proudly offer same-day crowns using our in-office CEREC machine. Your dentist will take digital impressions and upload the information to our in-office milling machine. After a short wait, we can attach your durable, custom crown.
What's the Cost of a Dental Crown? Factors that Influence Cost
Dental crowns at our dental office range between $1,000-$1,600. Crowns that are used for restorative purposes–not strictly cosmetic–are generally at least partially covered by insurance.
We like to be transparent about cost from the start and will provide an estimate to restore your tooth during a consultation at our Salt Lake City dental office. A few factors that determine the cost of treatment include:
Location of the Treated Tooth
Typically, front teeth will run a bit pricier than back teeth. You show off your front teeth every time you smile, so we want your crown to look as natural as possible. This means our U.S. lab spends extra time perfecting the look of your crown during the hand-finishing process, which overall, raises the price. You might also want to choose an even more realistic material.
Type of Material
We offer a wide range of materials to meet each patient's needs and budget, including IPS e.max, Empress, zirconia, and porcelain. Some materials are more expensive than others.
Quality of the Dentist
When it comes to a permanent crown, you don't want to bargain shop. The experience and expertise of a dentist can influence cost, but it also can ensure your crown is created and placed properly the first time around. We aim to keep our costs competitive without sacrificing quality.
Insurance and Financing Are Accepted
/
We accept most insurance providers. But if you don't have insurance or your out-of-pocket cost is substantial, we accept monthly financing plans through CareCredit®. This trusted lender features plans with low to no interest.
